Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”- Revelation 5:5

“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!- John 1:29

Insight: One of my favorite songs is “How Great Is Our God by Chris Tomlin. Here are some of the lyrics that stir my soul and get me fired up that we worship such an amazing God: The splendor of a King, clothed in majesty, let all the earth rejoice, all the earth rejoice. He wraps himself in light, and darkness tries to hide, trembles at his voice, trembles at his voice. How great is our God, sing with me, how great is our God and all will see how great, how great is our God. Age to age He stands, and time is in His hands, beginning and the end, beginning and the end. The Godhead three in one, Father, Spirit, Son, the Lion and the Lamb, the Lion and the Lamb, how great is our God, sing with me, how great is our God, and all will see how great is our God. Name above all names, worthy of all praise, and my heart will sing how great is our God.”

The amazing thing about this song is that it perfectly captures the character of who Jesus is- He is both the Lion and the Lamb. He can be fierce yet He is also gentle. He willingly died for our sins so we could be reconciled to God through His atoning sacrifice ( Romans 3:25 ) and yet when He returns in all His glory, He will be as fierce as a Lion as Revelation 19:13-16 depicts for us: “He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen,  white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords.”

I have experienced both sides of Jesus’s character in my own life. He has shown me incredible mercy, grace and forgiveness and His calming presence has many times been the perfect elixir my soul needs. At other times, I have seen His boldness and fury come alive, to help give me courage when I needed it most and to let me feel His raw power to overcome all obstacles and to crush the spiritual attacks of the enemy that are expressed in Ephesians 6:12-18. His character comes alive in us when we need it most through the power of the Holy Spirit. I was a wimp in many areas of my life before I met Jesus, but somehow He has given me His strength and courage in many areas where it simply didn’t exist before. Proverbs 28:1 says “The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.” God’s boldness and strength helped me with my greatest fears, especially overcoming the fear of death and also the fear of rejection. He also comforts us in our trials, defeats and setbacks, of which there are many, in His role as the Lamb of God. He is the Lion and the Lamb, a truly remarkable blend of compassion and power, tenderness and strength, meekness and fury. Truly none is like our God!

Praye: Jesus, You are truly amazing in your duality as the Lion of the tribe of Judah, and the Lamb of God who came to take away our sins. We can’t even comprehend the greatness of your being, but You are truly worthy of all of our praise. Amen!
