Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.”- Proverbs 3:13-15

Insight:  Wisdom is a noble goal, and attaining it is valued above all else in the Bible. We are instructed in Proverbs 4:5-7 “Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it costs all you have, get understanding.” It is said  King Solomon, King David’s son,  became the wealthiest person who ever lived and it was as a direct result of Solomon pursuing Godly wisdom throughout his life. Solomon pursued Godly wisdom with vigor, and the same can be true for us. That is our decision to make. We must elect to carve out time seeking the Lord, and that comes only through reading scripture and spending time in prayer. We cannot obtain Godly wisdom from asking Siri or seeking it on You Tube. It is a commitment we must make to spend time in God’s presence. We spend time on what we truly value, so if we don’t spend time seeking God then no matter what we say, we don’t truly value the wisdom that can only come from Him. It is tough to find extra time, but we need to change our priorities around and put God before lesser things. Somehow, when we do this, He provides us with even more time. Martin Luther once famously said “ today I have a lot on my schedule, so I will devote even more time to prayer, spending the first 3 hours of my day seeking Him.” King Solomon understood the many benefits of seeking wisdom. He wrote about it throughout the Book of Proverbs in the Bible.  In Proverbs 8:10-12 he penned “Choose my instruction instead of silver,   knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies,  and nothing you desire can compare with her. I wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.” That is a mindset geared towards obtaining the necessary wisdom and insight that we all can emulate. We will benefit greatly when we prioritize gaining wisdom above all else.

The Bible verse in 1 Kings 10:24 says “The whole world sought an audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.” One thing we can be sure of is when we seek and obtain Godly wisdom, others will want to hear about. We will gain influence as a result. However, one thing we must always remember is that alignment matters and we must seek God first, and then wisdom and influence will follow as a result. 2 Chronicles 1:11-12 makes this point clearly when it states “God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, possessions or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.” God honored Solomon’s alignment of seeking Him and His wisdom first, before all else, and then He blessed Solomon richly. I believe this is a test that we must all pass if we want to be a person of influence. We must seek God and Godly wisdom above all else and when we do, we will greatly benefit from it. King Solomon understood this principle, and I believe God wants to share His wisdom generously with all that seek it. It is up to us to decide if we want to pursue it above all else! God won’t make us seek Him, but when we do, the results of wisdom will permeate our whole soul, and others will take notice. Then our influence will grow as we honor God by sharing what we have learned.

Prayer: Father God, help us to seek you and your wisdom above everything else in our lives. Nothing can compare to it, and nothing else can ever satisfy like it can. We pray for this in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
